Giving Tuesday

Make DOUBLE the difference for girls in our community. On Giving Tuesday, every online gift, no matter the size, will go TWICE as far thanks to the generous family and friends of GTW.

GET STARTED

Amena Threets, Founder/CEO  was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Englewood. Attending a mentoring agency in Hyde Park when she was an adolescent inspired her to provide mentoring to local community adolescent girls. Delivering evidence-based curricula that offers social & emotional and developmental life skill programs for youth 11-18.

Amena saw the wonderful opportunity to address the academic needs for youth, positive youth development, life skills, and career explorations as well as all other areas of a youth’s life –  such as decision making, concerns, fears, coping with anxiety and pains they are faced to challenge daily.

GTW offers a unique setting where youth are able to express their emotions, thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.  We provide our mentees with guidance and encouragement during her personal development and growth.

Mentors are in need more than ever before. Due to COVID-19 School closures and stay-at-home orders have tremendously impacted our youth social and emotional development as well as their education. When school resumes this fall, we will encounter a vastly different and, in some ways, even more challenging academic experience. Youth will need the support and guidance of dedicated and caring virtual mentors who can help them navigate their new normal and work towards a building their future. Our Mentors are experts in empowering students to succeed through life skills development, goal setting, job readiness training, and career exploration.
